Structural grades
30 gsm spunbond: strong enough to be sewn
30 gsm is the grade where spunbond becomes a structural fabric: mattress pocket springs, furniture backing, reusable covers.

Mattress pocket springs
A pocket spring fabric is ultrasonically seamed into a tube and then filled, so the failure mode is seam splitting rather than fabric tearing. At 30 gsm the web has enough cross direction strength to hold a weld under spring load, and enough elongation to form the pocket without thinning at the corner.
Furniture and general covers
Dust covers and backings need tear resistance more than tensile strength. At 30 gsm the web resists a propagating tear, which lighter grades do not: a 20 gsm web splits along a nick, a 30 gsm web stops.
Agricultural use and its limits
It works as a short-season cover. Without UV stabiliser, expect one season in strong sun. With stabiliser, two to three seasons is realistic, and the grade is quoted with the target months rather than the additive percentage.
Other weights in this range
This grade sits in the PP spunbond range. Buyers comparing across weights usually ask for two or three of these at sample stage, because the decision is made on the converting line rather than on the data sheet.
- 15 gsm spunbond - 15 gsm spunbond covers the most area per kilogram of any grade we quote. It is.
- 20 gsm spunbond - 20 gsm is the grade most hygiene laminates are built on: light enough for cove.
- 25 gsm spunbond - 25 gsm is the standard outer layer of a three-ply medical mask and the body of.
- 40 gsm spunbond - 40 gsm is the heavy end of standard spunbond: bags that carry weight, separato.

Questions
Common questions
Is 30 gsm used for pocket spring fabric?
Yes, that is one of its main uses. The key specification is seam strength after welding, not just tensile.
Can 30 gsm be sewn?
Yes, with a standard needle and a suitable stitch. Ultrasonic welding is also common where a sealed seam is needed.
How long does it last outdoors?
One season unstabilised in strong sun, two to three seasons with UV stabiliser. Specify the target months of exposure.
