100 gsm polyester: heavier media for harder service
100 gsm polyester carries more load than the 80 gsm grade and is used where the filter sees abrasive dust or the separator sees coarse aggregate.

Abrasive dust and coarse aggregate
The heavier web survives the abrasion that a lighter medium loses to. In a dust collector handling grit or in a drainage layer under coarse stone, the difference between 80 and 100 gsm is service life, not filtration efficiency.
Permeability has to be specified
Two 100 gsm media can differ by a factor of two in air permeability depending on needling density. A buyer who specifies only weight gets a medium that may not move the airflow the system needs.
Chemical limits
Polyester is attacked by strong alkali at temperature. In concrete drainage and lime-rich soil, that matters, and a polypropylene alternative is sometimes the better answer.
Other weights in this range
This grade sits in the Polyester range. Buyers comparing across weights usually ask for two or three of these at sample stage, because the decision is made on the converting line rather than on the data sheet.
- 80 gsm polyester - 80 gsm polyester is chosen for filter bags and separation layers: strong, chem.
- 120 gsm polyester - 120 gsm polyester is the heaviest standard grade we quote: separation under he.

Questions
Common questions
What is the difference from 80 gsm?
Higher tensile, higher puncture resistance and longer service life under abrasion, at roughly 25 percent more cost.
Can it be coated?
Yes, with a PTFE or acrylic coating for fine dust. The coating changes permeability, so the target value has to be set first.
Is it suitable for concrete contact?
Strong alkali attacks polyester. Use polypropylene if the material sits in fresh concrete or lime-rich ground.
