Supply and commercial
What does a nonwoven factory audit actually check?
Documents that match reality, records that match batches, and a line that matches the description. Most findings are mismatches rather than missing systems.
At a glance
Specification at a glance
| Area | Evidence | Common finding |
|---|---|---|
| Quality system | Certificate and scope | Scope narrower than claimed |
| Incoming fibre | Lot records and tests | Missing lot linkage |
| In process | Settings record, batch sheet | Records filled in after the fact |
| Final test | Per batch results | Method not stated |
| Traceability | Roll to batch to lot | Pallet label mismatch |
The three repeat findings
Incomplete traceability, test records without a stated method, and a quality certificate whose scope does not cover the product being audited. All three are fixable in a week, and all three are found late because nobody rehearsed the trail.
How to rehearse
Pick a shipped roll and follow it backwards. If the trail stops, the audit will stop there too. Rehearsing once with a real roll finds more than a document review.

Questions
Common questions
Does an ISO certificate guarantee a pass?
No. It covers the system and its scope, and auditors test whether practice matches it.
How long does an audit take?
Half a day to two days depending on scope. Product specific audits are shorter.
Can findings be closed after the audit?
Usually yes, with a corrective action plan and evidence. Some customers require closure before the first order.
